Still Life

Objects receive light  and according to the texture of their surfaces they either absorb it or reflect it. They cast shadows,  they overlap one another and their colours do the dance that colours do.  That is the essence of beauty. I work from photos but I alter them, emphasizing some areas, playing down others. I am thankful for my cell phone's camera function because some of my best paintings come  from photos taken spontaneously.  If I happen to see unexpected beauty, I'm able to hold onto it until I can do something with it..
